Breaking News: Body of Missing Verőce Tragedy Victim Found in Danube
The body of 19-year-old Márton V. has been found by the police in the Danube River between Vác and Sződliget. This discovery marks a tragic turn of events in the aftermath of the Verőce boat accident, as one of the missing victims has now been located.
According to the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK), the body of Márton V. was found at river kilometre 1675.8 of the Danube. Despite the ongoing search efforts, four other individuals are still missing and being sought by authorities.
In a Facebook post by the BRFK, they expressed their dedication to the search for the missing victims, stating, “While we are searching for missing people, there is always one last ray of hope. However, due to the time that has passed since the tragedy, we understand the challenges in recovering the bodies of the victims to give back to their families. Our colleagues have been tirelessly searching the river every day since the accident occurred.”
The boat accident near Verőce, which occurred on Saturday night, involved a motorboat colliding with a cruise ship. The incident resulted in the survival of one person, with the bodies of a 39-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman already recovered.
As the search for the remaining missing individuals continues, the recovery of Márton V.’s body serves as a somber reminder of the tragic consequences of the Verőce boat accident. The authorities remain dedicated to locating the other missing victims and bringing closure to their families in this difficult time.
