Child Mistakes Powder Detergent for Sugar and Eats It, Prompting Hospital Treatment
In a distressing incident that occurred in Osmaniye Mahallesi Ceylan Street, a child mistakenly consumed powder detergent, thinking it was sugar. The incident took place at approximately 15:30, while the child named Çınar Y. was playing at home.
Çınar Y.’s mother, Yeliz Y. (30), discovered her son eating the detergent when she entered the kitchen. Immediately realizing the danger, she promptly informed medical personnel. The child had already developed mouth wounds due to ingesting the toxic substance.
As a result, the medical team intervened rapidly and transferred the child to İnegöl State Hospital via ambulance. After receiving initial treatment at this facility, Çınar Y. was taken to Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital for further medical care.
Following the alarming incident, local authorities initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s access to the powder detergent.
Parents and guardians are advised to exercise extra caution and ensure the safe storage of household products, especially those that resemble edible items.
