Competition Authority Probes Viking Kağıt for Price Fixing on Shelves

Competition Authority’s investigation into Viking Paper to determine shelf prices

An investigation has been launched against Viking Paper and Cellulose Industry and Trade Inc., according to a written statement made by the institution.

The preliminary investigation, which was conducted on Viking Paper, a company that specializes in the production and sale of various cleaning products such as toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, wet towels, wet wipes, cologne, facial tissues, and pocket squares, has been finalized by the Competition Board. It was found that Viking Paper’s buyers violated the Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition by determining resale prices, in response to these allegations.

After discussing the information, documents, and findings obtained during the preliminary investigation at a meeting held on 18.04.2024, the Competition Board deemed the findings to be serious and sufficient. As a result, it has decided to open a formal investigation against Viking Paper under case number 24-19/407-M.

This investigation will aim to determine whether Viking Paper has engaged in any anti-competitive practices in the market for cleaning products. The Competition Authority will closely monitor the situation to ensure fair competition and consumer protection.
