Fire erupts in Bukhara due to gas pipeline leak

A fire broke out on February 10 in the Bukhara region after a gas leak from an underground main pipeline with a diameter of 1020 mm on the “Bukhara–Ural” gas pipeline. The blaze was quickly extinguished once the gas supply was shut off, and no casualties or injuries were reported. Local sources have indicated that methane filling stations in the area have been temporarily closed as a precaution.

The incident occurred at 11:26 AM on the 106th kilometer of the underground pipeline managed by the Gazli Main Gas Pipelines Department. The pipeline, operating under 26 kg of pressure, was damaged, leading to the gas leak and subsequent fire.

Emergency response teams acted swiftly to close the valves at 11:30 AM, allowing the remaining gas to escape and bringing the fire under control. The nearest settlement to the accident site is the Kizilrabot neighborhood in Romitan district, which is located 40 km away.

Telegram channels in the Bukhara region reported the temporary closure of methane filling stations in the area, prompting initial announcements from the Ministry of Energy about restrictions on these stations. However, the ministry later clarified that all methane filling stations across the country would continue to operate as usual.

The Ministry of Energy stated that vehicle gas filling compressor stations would operate according to the previously agreed schedule with regional administrations, adjusting their operations based on regional demand and gas pipeline pressure. Any further updates on this matter will be communicated to the public by the ministry.
