In Memory of the Akın Brothers: The Youth to Melodies Concert

A touching concert titled “From Youth to Melodies” was recently held in memory of brothers Doruk and Alp Akın, who tragically lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake. The event, organized in collaboration with the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and the Cyprus Polyphonic Choirs Association, took place at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Palace and was free for the public to attend.

Conducted by Erkan Dağlı and Ersin Kaşif, the concert featured performances by the choir and orchestra, as well as soloists Uliana Öztemur, Simay Vechi, and Havva Özdemirağ. Additionally, the Ada Işık Children’s Choir, Ada Işık Youth Vocal Ensemble, and Young Talents Production Orchestra graced the stage with their talent.

Rana Uluçay, President of the Cyprus Polyphonic Choirs Association, expressed gratitude to all those who supported the event and highlighted the brothers’ involvement in the Ada Işığı Children’s Choir. Furthermore, students from Nicosia Anatolian Fine Arts High School, including Cemre Nur Güveloğlu, İlayda Avaracı, Mercan Tekeli, and Mustafa Kayhan, also performed during the night.

The concert concluded with a special moment as photographs from the event were presented to the boys’ mother, Ayşe Güler Akın. The evening served as a beautiful tribute to the brothers, showcasing the power of music to bring people together in times of remembrance and reflection.
