Protest Against State Television RAI Continues in Italy
Protesters gathered outside the RAI Headquarters in Rome, protesting both Israel’s attacks on Gaza and the RAI administration. With Palestinian flags and banners in hand, approximately 4 thousand people came out to express their disapproval of RAI’s coverage of the events in Palestine.
Speakers at the demonstration accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza and expressed their dissatisfaction with RAI’s coverage of the situation. Banners and chants calling for a ceasefire and criticizing the RAI management were prominent throughout the protest. The crowd also chanted slogans against the Israeli government and RAI.
In addition to the protest in Rome, similar demonstrations took place in other cities across Italy, including Turin, Trieste, and Verona. In Turin, a photograph of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shaking hands was set on fire during a march attended by around 2 thousand people.
Protests in Verona turned violent as demonstrators confronted security forces and scuffles broke out. Red paint on hands symbolized the bloodshed in Gaza and calls to end the violence were loud and clear.
