The Launch of the Exciting “Mr. Kuzi” Book Series Chronicles Adventurous Tales
New Book Series Promotes Environmental and Energy Efficiency Awareness
A new book series called “Adventures of Mr. Kuzi” was launched yesterday with the aim of promoting sustainable environmental and energy efficiency awareness. The first two sets of books, titled “Zero Waste, Electricity, and Air Pollution,” were introduced at the launch event held at Rüstem Bookstore.
The project, a collaboration between the Chamber of Electrical Engineers (EMO) and expert teachers, was attended by various notable figures including Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu and Mayor of Nicosia Turkish Municipality Mehmet Harmancı. The team behind the project, along with many educators, also participated in the event.
During the opening speech, President of the Chamber of Electrical Engineers, Üner Kutalmış, mentioned that the project aims to raise children’s awareness of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and the environment. He expressed his gratitude to the team involved in creating such valuable educational materials and emphasized the importance of their support.
Kutalmış also thanked Minister of Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu and his team for their cooperation in incorporating the book series into the education curriculum, as approved by the Board of Education and Discipline.
The project coordinators, Mustafa Özmert and Özge Yorulmaz, highlighted the significance of education in fostering a sustainable environment. They believe that change is possible through the guidance of educators. The project team aims to develop high-quality educational materials that support school-type learning and extend education beyond the classroom. The story books in this project are accompanied by critical thinking questions, student-centered activities, and technology-supported reading exercises.
The main vision of the project is to leave a future with renewable energy resources, clean seas, clean air, and a lush green Cyprus to the next generation. The coordinators aspire to cultivate environmentally friendly citizenship awareness in children, believing that change can only be achieved from the grassroots level.
Özge Yorulmaz introduced the website where the books, events, and project materials can be accessed. She also acknowledged the dedicated team members who worked voluntarily on the project, including the author Nursal Vahip, writer Yasemin Taneri, illustrator Yağmur Bayhanlı, graphic designer Remzi Güneralp, proofreader and book consultant Ahmet Güneyli, web design and technology expert Erdal Şanlıdağ, material preparer Yıldız Ceylangüden, sustainability and green technologies expert Mustafa Yanaroğlu, and project coordinators Mustafa Özmert and Özge Yorulmaz.
The books can be obtained through the project’s website, and regional promotion meetings will be organized in schools across every district to ensure wide accessibility for educators.
This new book series sets a positive example in promoting environmental and energy efficiency awareness among children, who play a crucial role in building a sustainable future.
