Twitter Reveals New CEO While Musk Keeps Identity Hidden
Elon Musk Dismisses Senior Executives on Twitter, Initiates Survey for CEO Replacement
Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, recently used his social media platform, Twitter, to dismiss several senior executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal. Musk, who acquired Twitter for $44 billion in 2021, announced on his account that he was excited to nominate a new CEO who would begin their role in six weeks. While the identity of the new CEO has not been revealed, Musk did indicate that the person is likely a woman.
Agrawal has been in the news recently due to his compensation package of $42 million. Following his dismissal, Musk assumed the role of CEO and initiated a survey on Twitter regarding whether or not he should remain in the position permanently. The survey closed with 17,502,391 people casting their vote. 57.5 percent of respondents voted in favor of Musk stepping down, while 42.5 percent voted for him to stay. In response to the survey results, Musk resigned as CEO.
It remains to be seen who the new CEO of Twitter will be, but Musk’s choice is sure to be closely watched by investors and the public alike. Some speculate that Musk’s decision to dismiss executives on Twitter reflects a larger trend of CEOs using social media to make important announcements and decisions. As Twitter continues to be one of the world’s most popular social media platforms, it will be interesting to see how the company evolves under its new leadership.
