Suspicious Death of Batuhan Eren Kılıç in Bursa: What Happened in 3 Minutes?
In a tragic incident that has raised suspicions, Batuhan Eren Kılıç, the eldest son of the Ümmügülsüm-Fırat Kılıç couple, met an untimely demise in Bursa. The couple had separated some time ago, and Batuhan had a great ambition of getting into university. This year, after graduating from high school and taking the university entrance exams, he started working at his uncle MG’s plastic packaging plant in the Otosansit Industrial Site in Yıldırım district, Bursa, for the summer.
On the night of August 10, around 22:00, Batuhan allegedly asked his uncle to fetch water from the office on the mezzanine floor. Tragically, he fell down the stairs and was found lying motionless on the ground by his uncle. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, but unfortunately, his life could not be saved.
Batuhan’s uncle, MG, provided a statement to the police regarding the incident. He mentioned that he heard a voice from inside the workplace while standing in front of the door. He had asked Batuhan for water, following which Batuhan went upstairs. MG went out towards the door and after 8-10 minutes, he heard a sound. When he walked in, he found his nephew lying in the middle of the workplace, near the stairs. MG tried to revive him but was unsuccessful. He then carried him to the hospital where Batuhan later passed away.
The suspicious circumstances surrounding Batuhan’s death led the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to launch an investigation. During the autopsy, it was revealed that the cause of Batuhan’s death could not be determined. There were no signs of trauma, internal bleeding, fractures, or poisoning. The 1st Forensic Medicine Specialization Board stated that the death occurred due to a disease that could not be diagnosed during the autopsy.
Fırat Kılıç, Batuhan’s father, found the autopsy report suspicious as Batuhan had no known underlying diseases. He filed a criminal complaint through his lawyer, Figen Şahin Sarıbal, and objected to the report. Lawyer Sarıbal highlighted discrepancies between MG’s statement and the security camera footage from before and after Batuhan’s death. They plan to request a special review of the case by either the High Health Council or the university hospital to determine the true cause of Batuhan’s death.
Further investigation of the security camera footage revealed that Batuhan was wearing different clothes before and after his death. Before the incident, he was seen wearing trousers, a black t-shirt, and shoes. However, after his death, he was only wearing underwear, shorts, and a buckle, with motor oil on his hands. These discrepancies led to more doubts and questions about what happened to Batuhan in the three minutes before his death.
Lawyer Sarıbal raised concerns about other individuals seen in the security camera footage, including a Syrian national who was with Batuhan shortly before his death. It was observed that the child’s uncle quickly arrived at the scene with his car. Additionally, the footage indicated the presence of two other individuals at the workplace, which MG did not mention in his statement. Sarıbal urged authorities to identify these individuals and record their statements.
Fırat Kılıç mentioned that he was informed of his son’s death two hours after the incident. He expressed his grief over the fact that Batuhan’s university entrance exam results were announced three days after his death, preventing him from seeing the outcome of his hard work and dreams. Kılıç expressed doubts about the uncle’s statement and the contradictory camera footage. He pleads for justice and answers regarding what truly happened to his son.
