Ambassador of Uzbekistan Holds Meeting with Hungarian Commissioner for Human Rights
Ambassador of Uzbekistan Oybek Shakhavdinov recently met with Hungarian Commissioner for Human Rights Akos Kozma in a productive and informative session. During the meeting, the Hungarian side was provided with detailed information about the key reforms taking place in Uzbekistan to protect human rights and interests.
It was highlighted that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan has undergone significant reforms in recent years aimed at liberalizing socio-political life and ensuring the rule of law. The principle of “human interests above all” has guided these reforms, leading to positive changes in the country.
Of particular importance is the increased role of national human rights institutions in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of vulnerable groups within the population, including women, minors, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The Hungarian side expressed satisfaction with the close cooperation between the ombudsman institutions of both countries.
Both parties expressed interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation, sharing experiences, and engaging in discussions on current international issues related to human rights protection. The meeting served as a platform for collaboration and mutual understanding between Uzbekistan and Hungary in the critical area of human rights.
