Uzbekistan Holds Steady at 80th Place in 2024 Henley Passport Index
Uzbekistan maintains its ranking in 2024 Henley & Partners passport index
Uzbekistan has held its position as the 80th ranked country in the 2024 Henley & Partners passport index. This ranking allows citizens of Uzbekistan to visit 62 countries either visa-free or by obtaining a visa upon arrival.
In 2024, Uzbekistan signed visa-free agreements with the UAE, Thailand, Oman, Pakistan, and is in the process of planning one with China. This increase in visa-free destinations has been a trend for Uzbek citizens over the past 15 years, with the number of countries they can visit without a visa or by obtaining one upon arrival rising nearly a third from 47 in 2010 to 62 currently.
Despite these advancements, the Uzbek passport still lags behind many post-Soviet countries. Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan all rank higher than Uzbekistan in terms of visa-free access for their citizens. Even Russia, ranked 46th, has more favorable visa policies, although recent travel restrictions have complicated international travel for its citizens.
At the top of the index, Singapore holds the first position, with its citizens enjoying access to 195 countries and territories without prior notification or by obtaining a visa upon arrival. Japan follows closely in second place, with access to 193 countries. Six countries share the third spot, including Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Spain, all of which offer visa-free travel to more than 192 countries. European nations and New Zealand round out the top five.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Afghanistan ranks at the bottom of the passport index, with its citizens having access to only 26 countries without a visa. Similarly, countries like Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia also have limited visa-free travel options, allowing their citizens to visit fewer than 36 countries without a visa.
