Visually Impaired Theater Group Preparing for Third Production

Kastamonu Visually Impaired Association Brings Comedy to the City

On January 12, a play will take center stage in Kastamonu, bringing a humorous take on the challenges of understanding the local dialect for a newcomer to the city. The play promises to shed light on the difficulties experienced by a person who visits Kastamonu for the very first time.

Cahit Kuşoğlu, the President of the Kastamonu Visually Impaired Association, shared that the association was established 6 years ago. Kuşoğlu also revealed that three years ago, the association embarked on a new venture by venturing into theater.

“In 2021, we asked ourselves, ‘Can we make theater?’ and despite our initial hesitations, we started this journey with the guidance of our teacher, Hulusi. Our goal is to connect with the people of Kastamonu, inspire other visually impaired individuals, and showcase that having a disability is not a hindrance. We have truly fallen in love with this new venture and are eager to continue,” Kuşoğlu expressed.

The Kastamonu Visually Impaired Association’s foray into theater marks a significant step towards inclusion and representation for visually impaired individuals. Their upcoming play is not only poised to entertain audiences but also to raise awareness and showcase the talent and capabilities of the visually impaired community. As they look ahead, the association has plans to continue their theater endeavors, promising more exciting productions in the future.
