A heartbreaking social media post by a Palestinian journalist has shed light on the devastating impact of Israeli attacks on the residents of Gaza. The Al-Guf family, who were forced to flee their home in the north of Gaza due to the attacks, sought refuge in the south, only to face further tragedy.
Taking shelter in the house of a family they knew in Khan Yunus, the Guf family found themselves in the crosshairs of the Israeli army, resulting in the loss of six lives. Among the victims was 2-year-old Firaz al-Guf, whose father bid him a tearful farewell at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. The heart-wrenching image of the father trying to give a biscuit to his deceased son has circulated widely on social media, evoking strong emotions from viewers.
The harrowing incident is just one of many in a long history of conflicts between Israel and Palestine. Since October 7, the Israeli army’s attacks have claimed the lives of 21,320 Palestinians, with two-thirds of the casualties being women and children. The relentless violence has also left 1.9 million Palestinians displaced in the Gaza Strip, where a population of approximately 2.3 million residents are struggling to survive under dire circumstances.
