Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu Receives President of Turkish Grand National Assembly Commission
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture Fikri Ataoğlu recently met with the President of the National Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Mahmut Özer, and his delegation during their visit to the TRNC.
The meeting, which took place at the Republic Assembly Hall of Honor, was attended by UBP Deputy Sunat Atun and CTP Deputy Filiz Besim.
During the reception, Mahmut Özer praised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his unwavering support of the Cyprus cause on all platforms. He also highlighted Turkey’s efforts to improve the quality of life and welfare of Turkish Cypriots.
Özer expressed satisfaction with the international moves towards recognizing the TRNC and commended the positive steps taken during a recent visit from Azerbaijan to the TRNC.
In response, Minister Ataoğlu emphasized the upcoming 50th anniversary of the July 20 Happy Peace Operation and stressed the enduring unity between Turkey and the TRNC. He thanked Azerbaijan for its support and also mentioned the challenges posed by the Greek side in hindering progress in various sectors of the TRNC.
Minister Ataoğlu urged the international community to speak out against attempts to suppress investors in the TRNC and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to independence and stability.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts between the two parties, further strengthening the bond between Turkey and the TRNC.
