Yakut, who was considered a doyen of cardiovascular surgery, founded Koşuyolu Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital, where he served as the chief physician. The hospital announced his passing with a message expressing deep sadness and condolences to the healthcare community, Koşuyolu family, and Yakut’s loved ones.
Born in the Beypazarı district of Ankara, Prof. Dr. Cevat Yakut played a significant role in the development of cardiac surgery in Turkey. He spent years performing surgeries at Van Yüksek İhtisas Hospital and later served as the General Coordinator of Cardiovascular Surgery at Azerbaijan Baku Central Clinical Hospital.
Throughout his career, Yakut received numerous awards and honors, including the Prime Ministry Certificate of Honor. He was also the president of the Turkish Cardiovascular Surgery Association for two terms. In 1990, Yakut became the chief physician of Koşuyolu Heart and Research Hospital, where he continued to make groundbreaking contributions to the field until his retirement in 2009.
