New Validity: Accessible in 2,500 Markets in Istanbul and Ankara

The Price of Red Meat Fixed for Ramadan in Istanbul and Ankara

Recently, red meat prices have been on the rise, causing concern among citizens even before the start of Ramadan. These fluctuating prices have made it difficult for many people to afford meat as a staple part of their diet.

Faruk Güzeldere, the President of the Istanbul Retailers Association (PERDER), has voiced his concerns about market manipulation during Ramadan. He stated that some opportunists are creating artificial supply shortages to drive prices up, taking advantage of the increased demand during the holy month.

In response to these exorbitant prices, the government has taken action by fixing prices in 28 chain markets for the duration of Ramadan. This initiative aims to make meat more affordable for the average citizen, especially during this time of increased consumption.

Güzeldere also highlighted the importance of price balance for both producers and consumers. He emphasized the need for the Meat and Milk Institution to play its role in ensuring market stability and fair prices for all parties involved.

In Istanbul, red meat is being sold at three different price levels, with variations across different districts. With these new regulations in place, citizens can expect to see more stable and reasonable prices for meat throughout the month of Ramadan.
