The Speaker of the Parliament Kurtulmuş Gives Statement on New Constitution
A reception was held by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) at Ankara ATO Congresium as part of the ‘TOBB 80th General Assembly’. Chambers and Commodity Exchanges from 81 provinces and 160 districts, along with business people and sector representatives from all major sectors of Turkey, attended the General Assembly reception.
In his opening speech, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş extended his wishes of success to the newly elected board of directors of TOBB. He emphasized the importance of unity in moving Turkey forward in the historical period of the second century of the Republic. Kurtulmuş stated, “We need to work together to achieve our goals and make Turkey a stronger and greater country in the second century of the Republic. It is crucial for each of us to fulfill our responsibilities to ensure a bright future for Turkey.”
Regarding constitutional studies, Kurtulmuş highlighted the need for a new constitution that is civil, democratic, inclusive, and encompassing. He mentioned the ongoing process of creating a new constitution under the roof of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, involving political parties and various stakeholders to ensure transparency and inclusivity.
Kurtulmuş stated that political parties will present constitutional proposals, and the final result will be determined through discussions and collaborations. He emphasized the importance of input from non-governmental organizations, universities, and the legal community in shaping the new constitution to reflect the nation’s aspirations.
As the discussions on the new constitution progress, Kurtulmuş called for constructive dialogue and cooperation among different parties and organizations.
