Vladimir Putin Officially Submits Documents to Run for 2024 Presidential Election
Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially submitted documents to the Central Election Commission to become an independent candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
The Kremlin Palace released a statement confirming that Putin visited the Russian Central Election Commission and submitted the necessary documents, including signing his application to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
The country’s Federation Council had previously decided to hold the presidential election on March 15-17, 2024. Putin had announced his intention to run for re-election and has now formally applied to be a candidate in the upcoming election.
In the upcoming election, Putin will be running as an independent candidate and will receive support from the “United Russia” Party in the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament.
The previous presidential election in Russia took place on March 18, 2018, where Putin was elected president with 76.69 percent of the votes.
