Severe Weather Causes Damage in Tepeköy and Surrounding Areas
A sudden and intense storm hit several neighborhoods in the Tepeköy region, causing showers and hail to fall in the evening hours. The affected areas include Caberfakılı, Işıklar, Killik, Gümüşçay, Caberkamara, Ilgınköy, Çakırcaali, and Sobran. Unfortunately, the storm had devastating effects on the local crops in vineyards and cultivated lands, leaving behind significant damage.
One particularly unfortunate incident occurred in Ilgınköy District, where the cone of a mosque minaret was blown away by the strong winds. The residents were left shocked and saddened by the unexpected damage caused by the storm.
Alaşehir Chamber of Agriculture President, Özer Demir, addressed the press about the aftermath of the storm. He stated that the hailstorm lasted for about 10 minutes and had a significant impact on the vineyards in the area. Demir revealed that their initial assessment indicated damages ranging from 60% to 100%, leading to a decrease in yield. The farmers were already facing challenges, and this disaster has further exacerbated their situation.
Demir called upon the government to support the affected farmers and consider declaring the area a disaster zone to provide additional assistance. He emphasized the importance of continuing their efforts to assess and address the damages caused by the storm.
