Man Takes over Leadership Role from Wife – Breaking News
A husband in Turkey recently took over the headmanship from his wife after she served three terms in the position. Nazım Şahin, who has been a headman since 2009, did not run in the 31 March Local Government Elections. Instead, his wife, Kezban Şahin, ran as the only candidate and was elected by all 17 voters in their village, Yığınot Village.
After receiving his certificate of registration, Nazım Şahin officially took over as headman from his wife and began working to address the village’s needs. Kezban Şahin, who had served as headman for 15 years, expressed her support for her husband in his new role.
In an interview with İhlas News Agency (İHA), Kezban Şahin stated, “My wife has been headman for 15 years. She got stuck in the third term. He is now my headman. I hope we will do something as much as we can.” She also mentioned that the villagers supported her husband’s candidacy and were pleased with the outcome.
Nazım Şahin shared that the village, with a population of 17, is experiencing progress with new housing construction and other improvements. He also highlighted the importance of addressing issues related to water supply, roads, and the village community center.
