PGO department head fired
Shamsiddin Sokhibnazarov, the head of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office, has been dismissed from his position, as reported by Kun.uz sources. Sokhibnazarov had been serving in this role since October 17, 2023.
Prior to his appointment as the head of the Department of Anti-Economic Crimes, Sokhibnazarov had been leading the PGO Department in Tashkent city. The reasons for his dismissal, his future plans, and his replacement have not been officially announced yet.
Yesterday, Kun.uz’s Kunonline Telegram channel had announced the dismissal of both Shamsiddin Sokhibnazarov and the first deputy prosecutor of Tashkent city, Anvar Ormonov. However, Khayot Shamsuddinov, the PGO press secretary, clarified that Anvar Ormonov had not been fired, and mentioned that there was no information available on the status of Shamsiddin Sokhibnazarov. Currently, Sokhibnazarov’s name still appears as the head of the PGO Department for Combating Economic Crimes on the department’s website.
In recognition of his services, Shamsiddin Sokhibnazarov was awarded the “For loyal services” medal before the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence in 2021. The situation surrounding his dismissal and his future endeavors are yet to be revealed.
