Adakhan Madumarov Freed from SCNS Detention Center

Bishkek – On April 26, 2024, Adakhan Madumarov, the leader of the Butun Kyrgyzstan party and deputy of the Parliament, was released from the detention center of the State Committee for National Security. A group of about 50-60 supporters gathered to welcome him upon his release.

Madumarov, when asked by journalists about his mandate and future plans, stated that he would continue to fight for his beliefs and that everything would unfold in due time.

The politician had been arrested on September 2, 2023, and faced accusations of high treason related to a 2009 protocol on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, as well as charges of fraud for allegedly misusing $50,000 from the party treasury for personal gain.

On March 26, 2024, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek found Madumarov guilty of treason and fraud. However, due to the statute of limitations expiring, he was released from punishment. Despite this, he remained in custody until April 26 as his preventive measure was not changed.

Madumarov’s release has sparked discussions and debates among the public, and his supporters continue to stand by him as he moves forward with his political career.
