On January 10, 2025, officers from the State Service on Drug Control in Bishkek detained a man who was planning to sell a large quantity of psychotropic substances. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic’s press service provided this information to the 24.kg news agency.

Authorities received a tip-off about a group involved in supplying psychotropic drugs to Kyrgyzstan. As a result, the Department of Internal Affairs of Sverdlovsky district initiated a case under the article “Illegal production of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their analogues for the purpose of sale” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Law enforcement officers successfully identified and apprehended one suspect, a 53-year-old individual named Kh.Kh.Yu. During a search, Alpha-PVP psychotropic drugs were confiscated from the suspect. Hidden drug locations were also discovered on the suspect’s phone, along with a large quantity of psychotropic substances found in a stash. Further investigation at the suspect’s residence revealed a significant amount of drugs, packaging materials, and 356 stashes containing Alpha-PVP and mephedrone psychotropic substances.

Authorities estimate the street value of the seized drugs to be around 1.6 million soms. The suspect has been placed in pretrial detention center No. 1, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are actively working to identify other individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.

The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in Kyrgyzstan.
